Israeli Human Rights Group Declares Israel’s Actions in Gaza as Genocide

B’Tselem, a prominent Israeli-Palestinian human rights organization, has accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza in its latest report, titled *Our Genocide*, released on Monday.

The report delivers a scathing condemnation of Israel’s ongoing military operations in the Gaza Strip, which have resulted in at least 59,733 Palestinian deaths and 144,477 injuries, according to the latest figures. The group’s findings are based on an analysis of Israel’s policies, the catastrophic humanitarian impact, and statements from senior Israeli officials and military commanders outlining the objectives of the campaign. “Israel’s coordinated actions in the Gaza Strip are intentionally aimed at destroying Palestinian society,” the report states. “This meets the definition of genocide.” The report also references the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, which killed an estimated 1,139 people in Israel and saw around 200 individuals taken captive. B’Tselem’s declaration comes amid ongoing violence, including a recent Israeli airstrike on April 19, 2025, targeting a residential home in the Khan Yunis refugee camp in southern Gaza. The attack, documented by Anadolu Agency, injured multiple Palestinians, predominantly children, who were treated at the Nasser Medical Complex. The report has sparked intense debate, with critics arguing it oversimplifies a complex conflict, while supporters say it highlights the urgent need for international accountability. B’Tselem has called for immediate action to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
