At least four people have been killed and 14 others injured in a drive-by shooting outside a nightclub in Chicago, according to local police. The incident occurred around 23:00 local time (04:00 GMT) on Wednesday when a dark-coloured car drove past the club, and gunmen inside opened fire on a crowd outside. The group had been leaving an album release party for rapper Mello Buckzz, as reported by CBS News, the BBC’s US partner. Police stated that the vehicle fled the scene immediately, and no suspects have been detained. The victims were rushed to various hospitals in the area. Two men, aged 24 and 25, and two women, aged 26 and 27, were pronounced dead. At least four of the injured are in critical to serious condition. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed. Eyewitness Pastor Donovan Price described scenes of “absolute chaos,” telling Reuters, “From people screaming to blood on the streets to people lying on the streets... it was horrific. It’s something you wouldn’t expect to find in the city. We have a lot of shootings, but nothing like this.” Rapper Mello Buckzz, whose event was linked to the incident, expressed her grief on social media, writing, “Prayers up for all my sisters, God please wrap your arms around every last one of them. Feel like everything just weighing down on me.” The Chicago Fire Department was seen cleaning the street outside the nightclub following the shooting. Authorities continue to investigate the incident as the city grapples with ongoing concerns about gun violence.
